Orford

River trips from Orford Quay

Depart from the town quay at Orford on board Tilly or Kitty and head downriver on our one hour round trip with commentary, circumnavigating the RSPB reserve at Havergate Island en route. This part of the river is very unspoilt and a haven for wildlife. For the keen birdwatchers you can expect to see Curlew, Avocet, Godwit, Terns, Sandpiper and many other species. You may also see members of the resident population of harbour seals at the entrance to the Butley river.

On the seaward side of the river, Orford Ness is a fascinating, secret place. It has played an important role in our nation’s military history and many of the buildings erected during the Cold War period are still there. We will provide more of an insight into the significance of this historical area as we cruise past.

Tickets cost £15 for adults, and £9 for children (14 years and under).

Tilly and Kitty can each take up to 12 people per trip, and trips will last approximately 1hr. Dogs are welcome on all of our river trips.
